There lived two brothers named Raju and Rahul. They both
worked as farmers, tending to their fields day in and day out. One scorching
summer day, a severe drought hit their village, drying up the crops and leaving
the land barren.
Raju, the elder brother, felt overwhelmed by despair. He
lamented the loss of their crops and worried about how they would survive the
season without any income. His mind was clouded with negativity, and he
couldn’t see past the challenges they faced.
On the other hand, Rahul, the younger brother, approached
the situation with a different mindset. Instead of dwelling on the devastation,
he saw it as an opportunity to innovate. He suggested they try planting
drought-resistant crops and implementing water conservation techniques.
Raju was sceptical at first, but Rahul’s optimism and
determination inspired him to give it a try. Together, they worked tirelessly,
experimenting with new methods and adapting to the changing conditions.
Months passed, and to their delight, their efforts paid off.
Despite the drought, they managed to yield a modest harvest, enough to sustain
their families through the tough times. As they stood amidst their flourishing
fields, Raju realized the power of choice in their response to adversity.
The same situation had evoked different responses from the
brothers. Raju’s despair had blinded him to possibilities, while Rahul’s
optimism had led to innovation and success. From that day on, Raju vowed to
remember that their response to any situation was always within their control.
